Research and scientific and technical activity
Research infrastructure, scientific schools and the units reporting to the Vice-Rector for Research, Innovation and International Activity.
The university runs postgraduate and doctoral programmes in 10 specialities and has three specialised academic councils for the defence of doctoral and candidate dissertations. Researchers can publish their results in 17 professional academic journals.
The research infrastructure includes 10 research laboratories, one educational and research laboratory and seven methodological laboratories, as well as the council of young scientists and the student research society.
The Research Library is a modern information and cultural centre and an essential part of the educational process. It has reading rooms and lending desks, and its holdings amount to almost one million volumes of teaching and research literature.

Over the years the university has developed scientific schools in pedagogy, law, psychology, political science, economics, history, the arts, chemistry, biology, mathematics and physics, philology, philosophy, and physical education and sport.
