Department of English Speech and Writing

The Department of English Speech and Writing was established in 2002. It was headed by Olena Hlotova, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor (2002 – 2012) and Oksana Kovalenko, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Full Professor (2012 – August 2023).

The Head of the department is Oksana Zosimova, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor (since September 2023). The department’s teaching staff comprises 8 lecturers, including 6 PhDs.

The department’s primary focus is on the course in English Speech and Writing, which is offered to first- to third-year students of the Faculty of Foreign Philology, including both full-time and part-time students, as well as students at H.F. Kvitka-Osnovianenko Educational and Research Institute of Ukrainian Philology. Additionally, the department provides theoretical courses such as "British and American Studies," "English Stylistics," and "English Literature" for undergraduate students. For graduate students, it offers courses in Literary Theory, Contemporary Literature of English-Speaking Countries, and Methods of Teaching English. There are also elective practical courses available, including "English Speaking and Listening Strategies," "Strategies for Developing Lexical Competence," and "Digital Tools in Teaching English."
