Department of German Philology

Welcome to the site of the Department of German Philology, Faculty of Foreign Philology, Kharkiv National Pedagogical University named after G.S. Skovoroda!

The Department of German Philology is a graduating department of KhNPU named after G.S. Skovoroda, which provides teaching practice and theory of the German language in the I-VI courses of full-time and part-time forms of education at the educational and qualification levels «bachelor» and «master». This department advocates development of traditions of Kharkiv Pedagogical University in combination with modern innovative trends and deepening of integration into the European educational and scientific space.

The educational program of the department provides training specialists in German language and literature who have scientific and practical knowledge in the field of philology, skills and abilities to analyze language material, can freely carry out interpersonal, intercultural and professional communication, interpretation and translation and have practical skills in teaching German and conducting research in accordance to their actual specialization that provides many opportunities for graduates in employment and further education.

The teachers of the department provide training students at the Faculty of Foreign Philology, where students as a specialty; at the G.F. Kvitka-Osnovyanenko Ukrainian Language and Literature Faculty study German, where German is studied by students as a free choice subject, and at other faculties of the university, where German is studied by students as a general discipline. The teachers of the department also work with graduate students of various forms of education and manage the pedagogical practice of students of II-III courses of full-time and part-time education, and master's practice.

The use of authentic materials and modern web platforms significantly improve the quality of the educational process and contribute to the effectiveness of research activities of higher education.
